Are you looking for a PAT tester?

We know that it can be difficult to find a good PAT tester. That is why we are making it easier by helping you find a PATTA member local to you!

Everyone on this directory is a member of PATTA, and have agreed to carry out appliance testing to our particular Working Standards, however, we can’t be held responsible for their work as presently PATTA is a trade association and not an accreditation company. We recommend you check the competency of a company before using their services, as a guide you can consider these options to check competency:

  • Checking their qualifications – the industry standard is the City and Guilds 2377
  • Checking their experience levels – the more experience the better
  • Checking they have done appropriate training courses
  • Checking they are accredited by another supplier such as CHAS, Safe Contractor, NICEIC, etc.
  • Checking their reviews from previous clients.
  • You can also check the quality of their work by price – if the price seems too good to be true, but probably is – anyone charging less than £1.00 per item may not be offering the best service. An engineer must have time to do the inspections, tests and repairs – pricing a job below £1/item rarely allows the time to do a thorough job e.g. A quality engineer should be testing 1-200 items per day max, so if they’re charging a low rate they’re not going to be making minimum wage, and this leads to corners being cut.
