PATTA Member Ethics & Professional Standards

PATTA exists to raise standards in Portable Appliance Testing through professionalism, shared best practice, and a supportive member community.

As a PATTA member, you are part of a trade association representing competent and responsible PAT testing businesses across the UK.

We ask all members to uphold the following principles:

Professional Conduct

Members should act professionally and ethically in all client work, communication, and representation of the industry.

Competence & Best Practice

Members are expected to work within their level of training and competence, and to follow recognised guidance, including the IET Code of Practice.

Respect for the Community

PATTA is built on cooperation and mutual support. Members should contribute positively and treat other members with respect.

Integrity of Membership Benefits

PATTA membership benefits — including supplier discounts, resources, and community access — are provided in good faith and must be used fairly and appropriately.

Protecting PATTA’s Reputation

Members should not engage in behaviour that could undermine the reputation of PATTA, its suppliers, or the wider PAT testing profession.

By maintaining these standards, members help ensure PATTA remains a trusted, credible association that benefits everyone involved.
